In Visual Studio Community 2013 with Python2.7 environment, the following worked for me: Open the Python Environments menu in the solution explorer, and click on 'Install Python Package. The Microsoft Python Extension for Visual Studio Code is actively developed in our GitHub repository, and is the most downloaded extension in the VS Code marketplace with over 6 million downloads to-date, and a 4.7/5.0 rating. Starting with Visual Studio 2015, Python Language support is 'in box'. When you install VS you can check the programming language box for Python and you get our tooling. That being said, Python has been supported by our tooling since Visual Studio 2010.
